Events: "Word to the Wise" Takes the Night!

Sarah Cowenhoven

What a great evening we had at Camp Ta-Kum-Ta for our annual fundraiser to support the Camp and the local artists who created these cabinet masterpieces! The Amish cabinets turned out to be a wonderful canvas for the Vermont landscape themes. The fundraiser was a success, raising thousands - the highest cabinet (shown below) went for (drumroll, please)...$1,350!!!! Wowza!

"Word to the Wise" - Artist: Amanda Schirmer - Cabinet sponsored by Merchants Bank.  See more of Amanda's work at her South Hero, VT studio, Mamanda Studio.

In truth, each cabinet was a hit and little bidding wars commenced for each of them. The winners were fortunate enough to take home a piece of Champlain Island's inspired art, while Camp Ta-Kum-Ta and these "starving" artists receive some additional financial support. What a great night!

We at Sam's Wood Furniture were truly honored to be able to participate in the event. We thank KOOL 105's John Brooks and Mark Knight for their excellent auctioneering efforts, and Tasty Persuasions Catering did a great job with the hors d'oeurves (loved those little mozzarella, olive and tomato skewers, and the spinach pie!). Thank you to the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce-Islands Division for all of your hard work in organizing the event and inviting Sam's for a second year!
